What should you know about myofascial release and cellulite?

Short answer
Myofascial release may temporarily change soft-tissue feel, but it should not be presented as a reliable way to remove cellulite.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Cellulite and soft tissue
Cellulite is the dimpled or uneven appearance of skin, commonly on the thighs, hips, buttocks, or abdomen. It reflects the relationship between skin, fat, connective-tissue bands, and muscle; it is not the same as a painful muscle disorder. Myofascial release uses pressure and movement on soft tissues, so the skin may look or feel different for a short time after a session because of fluid shifts, warmth, or temporary swelling. That change does not show that the underlying structure has been permanently altered.
Choosing a sensible plan
If you want treatment for cellulite, ask exactly what improvement is expected, how long it may last, and what side effects are possible. Choose a qualified practitioner who avoids aggressive pressure and explains consent clearly. For comfort or movement problems, myofascial release can be assessed separately from cosmetic goals. Strength training, general activity, and maintaining a stable routine may support body function, but no exercise or massage should be promised to erase skin dimpling. Discuss cosmetic procedures with an appropriately qualified medical professional if that is your main concern.
When to seek care
Seek medical advice for a new firm lump, one-sided swelling, warmth, redness, skin ulceration, or rapidly changing appearance rather than assuming it is cellulite. After hands-on treatment, obtain care for worsening pain, spreading redness, marked swelling, fever, or skin damage. New numbness or weakness also needs assessment.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether the area has features of ordinary cellulite or another condition, whether massage is safe for your skin and circulation, and what outcome can realistically be measured. If a procedure is offered, ask about alternatives, aftercare, and signs of a complication.

Questions people ask
Can myofascial release get rid of cellulite?
There is no sound basis to promise removal; any change in appearance after massage may be temporary and does not establish lasting treatment.
Is cellulite a sign of poor health?
Cellulite is a common skin appearance and, by itself, does not diagnose a health problem; a new or unusual change should be checked.
