The review may examine imaging, biopsy or pathology reports, previous treatments, symptoms and other health conditions. A specialist may confirm the original diagnosis, suggest additional testing, or explain why another approach could fit your situation. A pathology review can be useful when tumour type or grade affects treatment choices. Digital pathology may allow tissue slides to be shared for specialist assessment.

A second opinion does not automatically replace your current team. Its value is a clearer comparison of choices, including expected aims, practical demands and possible effects on daily life.

Ask the clinic what records it needs before the appointment. Gather scan images, pathology reports, laboratory results, medication details, operative notes and a timeline of symptoms and treatments. Write down what matters most to you, such as preserving function, reducing treatment visits or understanding whether surgery is appropriate.
