What happens when an mRNA vaccine is used for the first time?

The mRNA is read by some cells for a short time and then broken down. The immune response may take time to develop, so follow-up doses or other measures may be advised for the product and your circumstances.

You may notice arm tenderness, tiredness, headache, aches, chills, or fever. These effects can begin after vaccination and usually improve as the immune response settles.
