What should you know about MMR plus varicella vaccine?

The combination uses weakened forms of the viruses to stimulate immune memory. It covers the three infections in MMR and adds varicella, the virus that causes chickenpox. A mild fever, injection-site soreness, tiredness or a small rash can follow. These reactions are different from developing typical chickenpox or measles.

Because it is live attenuated, the vaccine is not suitable for everyone at every time. Pregnancy and some immune-system conditions require specific clinical advice.
