What should you know about a Mitek all-suture anchor?

Short answer
A Mitek all-suture anchor is a small implant with strong sutures that helps attach repaired soft tissue to bone during selected shoulder, hip, or knee procedures.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What an all-suture anchor does
The anchor is placed into prepared bone, and its sutures are passed through the tissue being repaired. Tying or securing the sutures brings the tissue back toward its intended attachment while healing takes place. The anchor is only one part of the repair; the damaged structure, tissue quality, fixation method, and rehabilitation plan also matter.
Suture anchors may be used in [Labral Repair](/treatments/sports-and-arthroscopic-surgery/labral-repair/), [Meniscus Repair](/treatments/sports-and-arthroscopic-surgery/meniscus-repair/), [Rotator Cuff Repair](/treatments/sports-and-arthroscopic-surgery/rotator-cuff-repair/), or [Shoulder Stabilisation Surgery](/treatments/sports-and-arthroscopic-surgery/shoulder-stabilisation-surgery/).
Protecting the repair
Before surgery, ask which tissue is being repaired and whether the operation is arthroscopic or open. Tell the team about medicines, allergies, previous operations, and work or sport demands. Afterward, use the sling, brace, crutches, or movement limits exactly as prescribed. Early exercises may protect joint motion, but resisted loading can be delayed while the tissue attaches to bone.
Attend rehabilitation visits even if pain improves quickly. Do not test the repair with lifting, throwing, deep squats, or sudden reaching until the surgeon or physiotherapist progresses you.
When to seek urgent help
Call the surgical team for fever, increasing wound redness or drainage, worsening swelling, uncontrolled pain, new numbness, or a sudden loss of movement. Seek urgent help for a cold or pale limb, severe calf pain with breathlessness, chest pain, or rapidly worsening weakness.
Questions to ask
Which structure will the anchor repair? How many anchors are planned, and what restrictions protect the fixation? When can I stop using a sling or brace, drive, work, and return to sport? Which pain, swelling, or movement changes require prompt review?

Questions people ask
Does an all-suture anchor dissolve immediately?
Its behaviour depends on the specific implant and material; ask your surgeon what remains in the bone and how it is monitored.
Can I return to sport when the incision heals?
Not necessarily. The repaired tissue needs time and graded rehabilitation beyond skin healing before sport-specific loading is appropriate.
