Milia pimples treatment: options and precautions

Milia are small keratin-filled cysts under the surface. They are often firm, smooth, and white or pearly, with little inflammation. Acne, folliculitis, and other eruptions can resemble them but may need different products or medicine. A clinician examines the texture, position, and pattern rather than treating every white bump as acne.

The skin around the eyes is delicate. Products intended for acne or peeling can irritate it, particularly when applied too close to the eyelid. Treatment is therefore chosen around the body site and your skin's tolerance.

Start with a mild cleanser, avoid picking, and review rich creams or cosmetics that may be worsening congestion. If the diagnosis is clear and the bumps persist, a dermatologist may remove them in the clinic using a controlled technique. A topical retinoid may be considered for selected cases, but it is not suitable for everyone and should not be self-applied near the eyes.
