Microneedling with PRP under the eyes: what to know

A clinician takes a small blood sample and processes it to separate platelet-rich plasma. After the under-eye skin is cleansed, a sterile device creates controlled channels at a setting selected for the thin eyelid region; PRP may then be applied according to the treatment plan. Redness, warmth, tightness, swelling, sensitivity, or pinpoint bleeding can follow.

The approach may be discussed for fine lines or surface texture. It does not remove a fat pocket, replace lost volume, or address every cause of dark circles. Skin pigment conditions such as melasma and sun-damaged skin may require a separate plan.

Tell the clinician about bleeding conditions, medicines or supplements, fainting during blood draws, allergies, cold sores, active rash, infection, and recent eye procedures. Confirm how the blood sample is handled and how the device is sterilised. After treatment, do not rub the eyes or pick at flakes. Use only the recommended gentle products, avoid heat, swimming, strenuous exercise, and eye makeup while the skin is reactive, and use careful sun protection.

Contact the clinic if swelling or redness keeps increasing, pain becomes marked, or pus, fever, blisters, or spreading warmth develop. Seek urgent care for vision changes, severe eye pain, difficulty moving the eye, or swelling that interferes with sight. These symptoms are not a reason to wait for the next appointment.
