What should you know about microdermabrasion visage?

A clinician moves a handpiece across cleansed facial skin. The device uses a fine abrasive surface or crystals and suction to lift loosened cells. It works at the surface rather than removing deeper layers, so it is generally chosen for dullness, uneven texture and mild congestion. It does not replace assessment of inflamed acne, infection, active eczema or unexplained facial changes.

Temporary pinkness, tightness, dryness or sensitivity can occur after exfoliation. The result depends on the device, pressure, passes and your skin condition; stronger treatment is not automatically more suitable.

Tell the clinician about recent sun exposure, cold sores, active rashes, acne medicines, retinoids, exfoliating products and any tendency to develop dark marks. Arrive with clean skin and avoid picking or harsh scrubs around the appointment. Afterward, use a gentle cleanser, moisturiser and broad-spectrum sunscreen, and pause irritating actives until sensitivity settles. Follow the clinic's specific instructions if they differ.

Contact the treating clinic if redness becomes increasingly painful, swelling continues to worsen, blisters or pus appear, or the skin develops marked crusting. Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty or widespread blistering. A clinician should review persistent darkening or lightening rather than treating it repeatedly at home.
