Melanoma brain prognosis: what affects outlook

Prognosis is an estimate, not a fixed prediction for one person. The care team reviews brain imaging, whether lesions can be treated locally, the presence of melanoma elsewhere, overall fitness, previous treatments, and how quickly the disease is changing. Symptoms such as seizures or weakness may influence immediate care, while the scan helps show the size and position of lesions.

Contact your oncology team quickly for a steadily worsening headache, new balance difficulty, or a noticeable change in behaviour or vision.

Ask what the scans show, which features are shaping the outlook, and what treatment goal applies now. Clarify how response will be measured, when imaging is expected, which symptoms should prompt urgent help, and who to call outside clinic hours.
