Medicine for vomiting while travelling

Motion sickness results from conflicting signals between the eyes and inner ear. Vomiting with diarrhea after food or water exposure may instead reflect food poisoning or gastroenteritis. Severe headache, upper abdominal pain, or a new neurological symptom should not be dismissed as travel sickness; migraine and other conditions can also cause vomiting.

Ask a pharmacist about a motion-sickness medicine before departure, including whether it causes drowsiness or interacts with your medicines. Sit where movement is lowest, look toward the horizon, keep air flowing, and eat small bland portions. Carry oral rehydration sachets, safe drinking water, and a spare change of clothes. Do not share medicines with travel companions.

Get urgent help for confusion, fainting, severe or worsening pain, blood in vomit or stool, a stiff neck, trouble breathing, or inability to keep fluids down. Seek local medical advice for very little urine, marked weakness, persistent fever, or symptoms that do not improve after travel. Tell the clinician where you travelled and what you ate or drank.
