What should you know about measles mr vaccine?

MR combines protection against measles and rubella in one vaccine. It does not contain mumps protection, unlike MMR. Measles may cause fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes and a spreading rash; these symptoms require medical advice rather than self-diagnosis. Whether MR is suitable depends on age, previous doses, pregnancy status, immune health and local recommendations.

Bring any available immunisation record and tell the vaccinator about previous reactions, current illness, pregnancy or medicines that affect immunity. Ask what short-term effects to expect and how to obtain help if you feel unwell. If you have possible measles, stay away from the clinic waiting room and call first. Household contacts may also need a review of their protection.

After vaccination, seek urgent help for trouble breathing, facial swelling, collapse or another severe allergic-type reaction. For suspected measles, urgent care is needed for breathing difficulty, confusion, seizure, severe dehydration or unusual difficulty waking. Phone ahead about fever and a new rash so others can be protected.
