What should you know about maxim prescription strength antiperspirant?

Aluminium chloride temporarily blocks sweat ducts near the surface of treated skin, reducing the amount of sweat reaching it. It is different from deodorant, which mainly targets odour. It may be used for underarms, hands, feet, or another area only as directed. Excess moisture and freshly shaved or irritated skin make stinging more likely. Reduced sweating can also lessen dampness that contributes to body odour or rubbing in skin folds.

Apply the prescribed amount at night to clean, fully dry skin, then wash it off in the morning if your instructions say to do so. Avoid eyes, broken skin, mucous membranes, and recently shaved areas. Do not cover the treated area unless a clinician specifically advises it. If burning or redness develops, pause and ask how to restart; a bland moisturiser may be recommended at a different time. Keep the container away from children and follow its label.

Stop and seek medical advice for marked swelling, blistering, severe pain, spreading rash, or breathing symptoms. Arrange a review if sweating is sudden, occurs during sleep, affects the whole body, or comes with fever, chest symptoms, faintness, or unexplained weight change. Persistent dampness with a rash in a skin fold may need assessment for intertrigo rather than stronger application.

Ask where to apply it, how often to begin, whether shaving or other products should be paused, and what to do after a missed application. Discuss whether excessive sweating has another cause and whether a different prescription antiperspirant plan is appropriate.
