What should you know about masseter muscle botox?

The masseter muscles help close the jaw. An injection of [Botulinum Toxin Type A](/materials/botulinum-toxin-type-a/) reduces the nerve signal that prompts the treated muscle to contract. Doctors may consider this approach for a bulky jaw angle, teeth grinding, or jaw-clenching symptoms when the muscle is a meaningful contributor. It does not change the jawbone and does not treat every cause of facial width or jaw pain.
