A MAC 1200 ST ECG machine records the heart's electrical activity through skin electrodes for clinical interpretation. It produces an electrocardiogram that can help a healthcare professional assess rhythm and other electrical patterns. The device supports assessment; it does not replace the clinician's examination or diagnosis.

An ECG captures electrical signals as the heart beats. The tracing can show the timing of atrial and ventricular activity and may provide clues about an irregular rhythm or changes that need further assessment. Movement, loose electrodes, perspiration, and electrical interference can affect the recording, so an unusual result may need repeating or checking alongside symptoms and medical history.

Wear clothing that allows access to the chest, arms, and legs. Tell the technician about medicines, implanted cardiac devices, and any skin sensitivity. During the recording, lie still, breathe normally, and avoid speaking unless you need help. The electrodes are placed on the skin and then removed after the tracing. Ask when and how the result will be explained.

An ECG may be arranged for chest discomfort, palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness, or fainting. Seek emergency help for pressure or pain in the chest that is severe or persistent, trouble breathing, fainting, sudden sweating with nausea, or symptoms spreading to the arm, jaw, or back. Do not wait for a routine ECG appointment when these symptoms are present.

Ask why the ECG was requested, whether you need to pause any medicine, whether the recording was clear, and what follow-up is planned. If symptoms come and go, ask whether another form of monitoring could capture them.
