Lump below the neck near the collarbone: what to know

The area around and below the collarbone contains lymph nodes, muscles, fat, blood vessels, and skin. A superficial cyst, inflamed hair follicle, muscle or joint problem, and a reactive lymph node can all produce a noticeable swelling. A clinician needs to determine whether the lump is above or below the collarbone, close to the skin, or deeper.

Arrange a clinical appointment for a persistent, enlarging, firm, or unexplained lump, particularly if it lies just above the collarbone.
