Loss of appetite in the third trimester

Short answer
Loss of appetite in the third trimester can follow pressure from the growing baby, but persistent symptoms need pregnancy-aware medical advice.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why appetite can change
As pregnancy progresses, the uterus can leave less room for large meals. Heartburn, nausea, constipation, tiredness, altered taste, and worry may also make food less appealing. Appetite loss can occur with an illness such as Influenza or Gastroenteritis, so consider fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, cough, or body aches. It does not by itself show that something is wrong with the baby, but inability to eat or drink can affect your wellbeing and should be discussed.
Ways to manage it
Try small meals and snacks throughout the day rather than large portions. Choose foods with energy and protein, such as yoghurt, eggs, beans, soup, or tolerated alternatives. Keep fluids nearby and take regular sips. Sit upright after eating if heartburn is troubling you. Continue pregnancy supplements as directed, and check before using an appetite product, herbal remedy, or antacid. Tell your midwife or obstetric clinician what you can keep down.
When to contact maternity care
Seek urgent advice if you cannot keep fluids down, pass very little urine, feel faint or confused, have severe abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, severe headache or visual changes, or notice reduced fetal movement. Contact your maternity team promptly for ongoing vomiting, fever, diarrhoea, or a clear decline in intake. Do not wait for a routine visit if you are becoming weak or dehydrated.
Questions to ask
Is my intake adequate for this stage of pregnancy? Could reflux, constipation, infection, or a medicine be contributing? Which foods, supplements, and treatments are suitable for me? What movement changes or dehydration signs should prompt immediate contact?
