What should you know about loose skin tag?

Short answer
Loose skin is usually a change in skin laxity, and its appearance depends on elasticity, location, and the amount of tissue beneath it.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What loose skin can mean
Skin becomes less able to spring back when collagen and elastin support change. Ageing, sun exposure, pregnancy, weight change, and inherited skin characteristics can all contribute. A small fold may rub against clothing or become irritated, while looser skin on the face or neck may affect contours. A new growth, a sore that does not heal, bleeding, or a rapidly changing area should be assessed separately rather than assumed to be ordinary laxity.
What you can do
Use broad-spectrum sun protection, avoid tanning, moisturise areas that feel dry, and keep weight changes gradual where possible. A clinician can examine the skin and distinguish laxity from a mole, cyst, wart, or another lesion. Options may include energy-based tightening, such as radiofrequency or HIFU, or selected lifting procedures. Results, recovery, suitability, and the number of visits vary with the area and the amount of laxity.
When to seek care
Arrange a clinical review if the area is painful, persistently itchy, inflamed, ulcerated, bleeding, or changing in colour, shape, or size. Seek prompt care for spreading redness, warmth, swelling, pus, or fever. If loose skin interferes with movement, hygiene, vision, or daily comfort, mention that practical impact during assessment.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether the finding is lax skin or a separate lesion, which treatment fits its location, what improvement is realistic, how skin tone and texture affect the plan, and what aftercare or warning signs to expect.
