Lip augmentation with Juvederm

Juvederm is a brand family of hyaluronic acid fillers. For lip augmentation, a clinician places filler in planned areas to influence border definition, projection, symmetry or volume. The lips are mobile, so the treatment plan should account for speech, eating and natural expression. Swelling and bruising can temporarily change the appearance. Filler is not the same as a surgical fat transfer, which uses tissue from another body area and has a different recovery and planning process.

Start with an in-person assessment and explain the look you want using clear, realistic terms. Tell the injector about allergies, medicines, previous filler, dental work and cold sore history. Ask which Juvederm formulation and amount are proposed, where it will be placed, and how follow-up will work. After treatment, follow the clinic's guidance about pressure, heat, exercise, alcohol, makeup and dental appointments. Do not add more product while swelling makes the shape hard to judge.

Call the treating clinic if swelling, tenderness or asymmetry is worsening or not following the expected recovery pattern. Seek urgent care for severe or unusual pain, pale or dusky skin, blistering, vision changes, weakness or trouble speaking, as these symptoms can signal a time-sensitive injection complication. Fever, spreading redness or drainage should also be assessed promptly.
