What should you know about lightstim before and after?

LightStim uses visible light from a device placed over the skin. It is generally considered a non-ablative approach, meaning it does not intentionally remove the outer skin surface in the way resurfacing treatments do. The aim may be to support a plan for concerns such as fine lines, dull texture or inflammation, depending on the device and clinical goal.

Photographs can be misleading when lighting, facial expression, hydration or camera distance changes. Wrinkles may look different when the face is relaxed compared with when it moves. Crow's Feet and sun-damaged skin may need a broader plan than light therapy alone.

Arrive with clean skin unless your clinician gives different instructions. Disclose photosensitising medicines, eye conditions, migraine triggered by light, recent procedures, active rashes and products that irritate you. Use the eye protection advised for the device and keep the light panel positioned as directed.

After a session, follow the clinic’s routine, protect your skin from sunlight and avoid adding several new active products at once. Keep a consistent photo routine if you are tracking progress. A gradual change can be easier to assess when the same angle, expression and lighting are used each time.

Stop and contact the provider if you develop persistent eye discomfort, marked redness, swelling, blistering, worsening burning or a rash. Seek urgent care for vision changes, severe eye pain, facial swelling with breathing difficulty or other rapidly worsening symptoms.
