How to get rid of lichen planus

Lichen planus is an inflammatory condition that can cause itchy, purple or brown bumps, thicker patches, or sore areas in the mouth. The visible rash can fade, yet colour changes may remain after inflammation has improved. Scratching can create more irritation, so reducing itch is part of recovery. A dermatologist can confirm the diagnosis because several rashes can look similar.

Arrange an examination before trying strong creams. A clinician may recommend a topical corticosteroid for selected skin areas; use it only as directed because the strength and application site matter. More widespread or stubborn disease may need a different prescription, sometimes including oral corticosteroid treatment. Keep nails short, use a bland moisturiser, and avoid fragranced products that sting.
