What should you know about an LFT3 blood test?

Liver panels can include enzymes such as ALT, AST, ALP and GGT, along with bilirubin, albumin and other measures. Each marker reflects a different process, and the pattern matters more than one isolated result. Results may change with medicines, alcohol, recent exercise, infection, bile-flow problems or conditions including Crohn's Disease and Coeliac Disease.

Ask the clinic to spell out what “LFT3” included and whether the sample required fasting. Provide a complete list of prescribed medicines, over-the-counter products and supplements. Do not alter treatment without advice. Keep the report and compare it with earlier testing only when the same markers and laboratory ranges are used.

Arrange prompt medical advice for yellow skin or eyes, pale stools with dark urine, persistent vomiting, severe upper-abdominal pain, unusual drowsiness or confusion. Seek urgent care when these symptoms are sudden, severe or accompanied by collapse or breathing difficulty. A flagged result without symptoms still needs planned follow-up.
