Short answer

Letrozole Teva is a brand of letrozole, an aromatase inhibitor that lowers oestrogen production and is prescribed for some hormone-sensitive cancers.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What this medicine does

After menopause, much of the body's oestrogen is made when an enzyme changes other hormones into oestrogen. Letrozole blocks that enzyme, reducing the hormonal signal that can encourage some breast cancer cells to grow. The tablet is part of a treatment plan chosen according to the cancer type, previous treatment, menopausal status, and overall health.

Common effects can include hot flushes, sweating, tiredness, joint or muscle aches, headache, and changes in mood or sleep. Lower oestrogen can also affect bone strength over time, so your team may review bone health and other medicines.

Using it day to day

Take letrozole exactly as prescribed, at a regular time, with or without food, and swallow the tablet with water. If you forget a dose, follow the instructions from your oncology team or pharmacist rather than doubling the next dose. Keep a record of other medicines, supplements, and herbal products because some can affect treatment decisions.

Do not stop treatment because of an uncomfortable effect without discussing it. Your clinician may suggest practical measures, check blood tests, review bone protection, or consider a different approach. Gentle movement, suitable exercise, and reporting persistent joint symptoms can help the team support you.

When to seek care

Contact your oncology team promptly for severe or worsening pain, marked weakness, new swelling, unusual bleeding, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or a rash with facial swelling or breathing difficulty. Seek urgent help for sudden chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting, or signs of a serious allergic reaction.

Questions for your doctor

Ask why letrozole is recommended for your cancer, how long the plan is expected to continue, which effects should be reported, and whether you need bone-density monitoring. Clarify what to do after a missed dose and before starting any new medicine.

Questions people ask

Is letrozole Teva the same medicine as letrozole?

Teva is a brand name; the active medicine is letrozole. Follow the product and dose supplied by your pharmacy.

Can side effects be managed?

Often, yes. Tell your oncology team what you notice so they can assess the symptom and offer specific support.
