Short answer

Lescolton laser hair removal uses light energy to heat selected hair follicles, reducing hair growth over a planned series of treatments.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How the treatment works

A handheld device delivers laser energy to the skin. The energy is absorbed more strongly by pigment in the hair than by the surrounding skin, so the follicle is heated without removing the surface layer. Hair responds best when it is in an active growth phase, which is why several appointments may be needed and why regrowth can be finer or slower rather than absent.

The device and settings should be selected for your hair colour, skin tone, treatment area, and recent sun exposure. Alexandrite, diode, and Nd:YAG systems have different operating characteristics; ask which technology the Lescolton device uses. Darker or recently tanned skin needs especially careful assessment because excess heat can cause burns or temporary pigment changes. The procedure may feel warm or like quick snaps, and mild redness around follicles can occur afterward.

Preparing and caring for your skin

Before treatment, disclose tanning, pigment disorders, medicines that increase light sensitivity, active rashes, cold sores, and any tendency to form raised scars. Avoid plucking or waxing the target hair before an appointment because the follicle needs to be present; follow the clinic's shaving instructions instead. Protect the area from sun and do not apply irritating products immediately before treatment.

Afterward, use gentle cleansing, avoid heat and friction for the period advised by the clinician, and protect exposed skin from sunlight. Do not scratch or pick at bumps. Laser treatment may help people troubled by ingrown hairs or shaving-related inflammation, but an inflamed or infected area should be examined before treating it.

When to contact a clinician

Contact the treating clinic promptly for increasing pain, blistering, open skin, marked swelling, pus, spreading redness, or a new dark or light patch that is worsening. Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty or widespread blistering. Persistent bumps in the beard area may need assessment for Razor Bumps, while recurrent painful nodules in body folds can need evaluation for Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

Questions for your doctor

Ask which laser wavelength and cooling method will be used, how your skin tone and recent sun exposure change the settings, whether a test spot is appropriate, how to prepare the area, and what reaction should prompt a call. Also ask whether your hair pattern may relate to Hirsutism or another condition before starting a cosmetic course.

Questions people ask

Does Lescolton laser hair removal remove hair immediately?

No. Treated hairs shed gradually, and appointments are commonly planned around hair-growth cycles.

Can every skin and hair type use the same settings?

No. Settings and device choice should be adapted to skin tone, hair pigment, treatment area, and sun exposure.
