Left-Sided Heart Failure: What to Know

The left side receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and pumps it around the body. When its pumping or filling is impaired, pressure can build behind it and fluid may collect in the lungs. This can cause breathlessness during activity or when lying flat, a cough, reduced stamina, and tiredness.
