LED light therapy after Botox: what to know

Botox is placed into selected muscles with a needle. Fresh injection points can be tender or slightly swollen, while pressure, heat, rubbing, or awkward positioning may be uncomfortable soon afterward. LED devices deliver coloured light without injecting material, but masks and panels can still touch or press the treated area. LED light therapy is used for goals such as calming some acne-related inflammation; it does not replace the effect of Botox or correct a treatment problem.

A home mask and a clinic panel can differ in light settings, distance, fit, and cleaning. The device’s instructions and your Botox clinician’s advice therefore matter more than a generic schedule.

Tell the LED provider when and where Botox was injected, and mention any tenderness, swelling, bruising, skin disease, or medicines that make you light-sensitive. Do not place a tight mask over sore injection points. Keep the skin clean, use the recommended exposure, and stop if the area becomes painful, intensely hot, or suddenly more swollen. Avoid adding peels, scrubs, or unfamiliar active products immediately around the same appointment unless your clinician has approved them.

Contact the Botox provider for worsening redness, warmth, swelling, drainage, marked pain, or a new rash at an injection site. Seek urgent medical care for trouble breathing or swallowing, widespread weakness, severe allergic symptoms, or vision changes. These symptoms should not be explained away as an expected LED reaction.

Ask when your specific injection areas can be exposed to the device, whether a mask may press on them, which light setting suits your goal, and what symptoms should pause further sessions.
