Short answer

Laser treatment may soften wrinkles by resurfacing the skin or stimulating collagen, but the suitable approach depends on wrinkle depth, skin tone, and recovery needs.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What laser can change

Laser treatment can remove or heat selected layers of skin, encouraging smoother texture and new collagen formation. The effect may be more noticeable for fine lines, uneven texture, and some sun-related changes than for deep folds caused by movement or lost volume. Crow’s feet, forehead lines, and lines around the mouth may therefore need different plans.

A consultation should distinguish surface texture from muscle movement, volume loss, and laxity. Sun-damaged skin can influence the treatment plan and the chance of unwanted pigment changes. Depending on the concern, a clinician may discuss Botox or dermal fillers instead of, or alongside, laser treatment.

Preparing for resurfacing

Tell the clinician about recent tanning, cold sores, medicines, previous scars, and any history of prolonged redness or pigment change after skin injury. Follow instructions about stopping irritating products and protecting skin from ultraviolet exposure. Treatment may cause redness, warmth, swelling, peeling, or sensitivity, with recovery varying by the laser depth and area treated.

Use only the aftercare products advised for your skin, avoid picking peeling areas, and postpone unapproved exfoliation or heat exposure. Improvements develop as the skin heals and remodels, rather than appearing all at once.

When to seek care

Contact the clinic if pain, swelling, redness, blistering, crusting, or discharge is increasing, or if healing seems to stop. Prompt review is needed for fever, spreading warmth, eye symptoms, or a marked colour change that persists or worsens.

Questions for your doctor

Ask which wrinkle process is being treated, what laser depth is planned, how long visible recovery may last, how your skin tone affects the plan, and whether an injectable or another option would address the same concern more directly.

Questions people ask

Does laser remove every wrinkle?

No. Laser is more suited to some surface lines and texture changes than to every cause of wrinkling.

Can injectables be an alternative?

Sometimes. Botox mainly affects movement-related lines, while dermal fillers address selected volume changes; a clinician can compare these with laser.
