Laser hair removal for peach fuzz

Laser hair removal works by heating pigment in the hair and follicle. Vellus hair, often called peach fuzz, is usually finer and lighter than coarse terminal hair, so it may not absorb enough energy for a useful response. Facial skin can also be sensitive and more visible when irritated.

Some people notice that hair near a treated area appears more prominent afterward. This may be regrowth or a rare treatment-related increase in visible hair, so the possibility should be discussed before treating fine facial hair. Laser is not a method for diagnosing new facial hair caused by a medical condition.

Ask for an in-person assessment rather than relying on a device label or home advertisement. A clinician should evaluate hair colour, thickness, skin tone, recent tanning, and the exact facial area. A small test area may help assess the skin response, but it cannot promise the final cosmetic result.

After treatment, seek care for blistering, severe pain, spreading redness, or lasting dark or light patches rather than scheduling another session over irritated skin.
