Laser for Light Hair Removal

Laser hair removal uses light absorbed by pigment in the hair shaft and follicle. Blonde, white, grey, and some red hairs may provide less of that target than darker hairs, so treatment can be limited or uneven. Skin colour, hair thickness, body area, and the growth cycle also influence the plan. Alexandrite Laser, Diode Laser, and Nd:YAG Laser have different properties, but changing devices cannot always overcome very low hair pigment.

The reason for unwanted hair matters as well. Hirsutism can have a hormonal cause, while Razor Bumps or Ingrown Hairs may be the main concern rather than hair reduction itself. A clinician should examine the pattern before recommending sessions.

Bring a clear description of when the hair changed, where it grows, and any medicines or hormonal symptoms. Do not bleach or pluck the hair before an assessment if the clinician needs to see its natural colour and follicle pattern. Ask for a test area when appropriate and clarify what improvement can reasonably be judged. Protect treated skin from irritation and follow shaving and aftercare directions.

Arrange a medical review for sudden widespread hair growth, new facial hair with voice or menstrual changes, painful draining lumps, or persistent inflamed follicles. These findings may point to Hidradenitis Suppurativa, a hormonal issue, or another skin problem that laser alone will not address. After treatment, report blistering, severe pain, or a spreading reaction.

Ask whether your hair colour and thickness are suitable, which device is being considered, how a test area will be assessed, whether electrolysis or another method should be compared, and whether a medical cause such as Hirsutism needs evaluation.
