What should you know about large b cell lymphoma?

B lymphocytes are immune cells found in lymph nodes, blood, bone marrow, and other tissues. In large B-cell lymphoma, abnormal B cells can form enlarged lymph nodes or involve organs outside the lymphatic system. Symptoms vary and can include painless swelling, fever, unexplained weight loss, or Night Sweats; these symptoms can also have other causes and do not by themselves establish lymphoma.

A biopsy is used to identify the lymphoma type. Blood tests and imaging such as a PET-CT Scan help the team assess where disease is present and plan care.

Treatment is tailored to the lymphoma subtype, extent, symptoms, general health, and previous treatment. Options may include Chemotherapy combined with Immunotherapy, with Radiotherapy used in selected situations. If lymphoma returns or does not respond as hoped, a specialist may discuss CAR T-Cell Therapy or Autologous Stem Cell Transplant.
