What should you know about KT tape for tendonitis?

Short answer
KT tape may change discomfort and movement awareness with tendonitis, but it does not repair tendon tissue or replace a graded rehabilitation plan.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Understanding the role of tape
Tendinopathy, often called tendonitis, can develop when a tendon is repeatedly loaded beyond its current capacity. Pain may be local and activity-related, with stiffness after rest or soreness after exercise. Tape creates a light skin sensation that may help you adjust a movement or feel more comfortable for a short period. It does not remove the load from a tendon, correct technique by itself, or prove that the tendon is healing. The affected tendon, duration of symptoms, work demands, and sport all influence the plan.
Making a sensible trial
A physiotherapist can select a placement that matches the tendon and teach you how much stretch to use. Apply it to dry, intact skin and remove it at the first sign of a rash, blister, burning, or worsening pain. Keep activity below the level that causes a clear flare later that day or the next morning. Gradual strengthening is usually more useful for restoring load tolerance than relying on tape. Depending on the diagnosis, care may include physiotherapy, strength training rehabilitation, shockwave therapy, or another option discussed with a clinician. PRP injection is not an automatic next step.
When to get assessed
Book an assessment when pain persists, limits work or sport, or returns each time activity increases. Seek prompt care after a sudden snap, immediate loss of strength, marked swelling, or a visible change in the tendon area. A clinician can check for a more substantial tear or another source of pain before you continue loading it.
Questions worth asking
Ask which tendon is involved, what load is acceptable today, and how progress will be measured. Ask whether your soreness after exercise is expected, when to advance strengthening, and whether physiotherapy or another treatment fits your findings.

Questions people ask
Can tape cure tendonitis?
No. Tape may support comfort, while recovery usually requires managing load and rebuilding tendon capacity.
Is a PRP injection needed if tape does not help?
Not necessarily. A lack of tape benefit does not select a treatment; diagnosis and duration guide the next discussion.
