What should you know about kosmos point of care ultrasound?

Ultrasound uses sound waves rather than X-rays to create moving images. A clinician places gel on the skin and moves a probe over the area being assessed. The view can change as you move a joint, contract a muscle, or press gently on tissue.

In orthopaedics, this may help assess soft tissues, fluid collections, tendon movement, and some features around a joint. It does not replace every form of imaging: bone detail, deep structures, or a broader internal view may require another test. The result must be interpreted alongside your symptoms and physical examination.

Wear clothing that allows access to the painful or injured area, and tell the clinician where symptoms begin and which movements change them. Mention wounds, dressings, skin sensitivity, or recent procedures before the probe is placed. The examination is usually performed in the treatment room and may include comparison with the other side.

Ultrasound itself does not explain every cause of pain. Seek urgent assessment for a suddenly cold or pale limb, new weakness or loss of sensation, severe swelling after an injury, inability to bear weight, or fever with a hot, red area. These symptoms need clinical assessment rather than waiting for a scan result.
