What should you know about kojic acid sheet mask?

A sheet mask holds a liquid formula against the skin for a limited application period. That contact can feel hydrating, but it does not make the product suitable for everyone or turn it into a substitute for diagnosis. Check whether the formula also contains fragrance, exfoliating acids or other potential irritants.

Kojic acid is used in products intended to improve the appearance of uneven pigmentation by influencing melanin production. It cannot confirm whether a mark is harmless, and it will not address every reason skin colour changes.

Patch test first when the maker recommends it, and apply the mask to clean, intact skin. Keep it on only for the stated time; extending contact can increase irritation without guaranteeing a better result. Remove it gently, then use a simple moisturiser if the skin feels dry.

Avoid using the mask on sunburn, cuts, active dermatitis or freshly exfoliated skin. Do not combine it on the same occasion with a strong peel or retinoid until a clinician has advised that combination. Protect exposed skin from sunlight while addressing pigmentation.

Seek urgent help if the mask is followed by breathing difficulty, facial swelling, widespread hives or blistering. Stop and contact a clinician for persistent burning, swelling, painful cracking or new dark patches. A changing, bleeding or crusted pigmented spot needs medical assessment.
