Kenz 305 ECG machine: what to know

An electrocardiogram captures electrical activity as a tracing from electrodes placed on the chest and limbs. The recording can help a clinician assess heart rate, rhythm, conduction timing, and patterns that may suggest strain or reduced blood flow. The machine produces a tracing; it does not by itself explain every symptom or replace a clinical assessment. Results can be affected by movement, muscle tension, loose electrodes, or an irregular rhythm that is not present during the brief recording.

Wear clothing that allows access to the chest and lower limbs. Avoid applying oils or thick creams where electrodes will be placed, and tell the staff about chest hair, implanted devices, medicines, and previous heart diagnoses. During the recording, lie still, breathe normally, and avoid talking unless the operator asks a question. The test is usually quick and the electrodes are removed afterward; the adhesive may briefly irritate sensitive skin.

An ECG appointment should not delay emergency care. Seek urgent help for chest pressure or pain, severe breathlessness, fainting, sudden weakness, new confusion, or a sustained racing or very slow heartbeat, especially if symptoms are new or severe. Ask the clinician how and when you will receive the result and what follow-up is needed if the tracing is abnormal or symptoms continue.
