It does not establish why a sore appeared, remove a mechanical irritant, or cover every infection. Kenalog names can refer to products made for different routes, so an injectable or skin preparation must not be used as an oral paste. The correct choice depends on the lesion and your health history.

Follow the prescription and wash your hands before handling the tube. After gently cleaning and drying the area, dab a thin layer over the sore and press it into place. Do not scrub the lesion or use extra paste to compensate for food, drink, or a missed application. Keep the nozzle from touching the sore, close the container, and store it as directed.
