Keloid on the scalp: what to know

Scalp keloids can follow acne-like inflammation, cuts, surgery, burns or grooming-related injury. They are often firm and raised, with itch, tenderness or tightness. Hair may hide early growth, and repeated scratching, close shaving or friction from hats can irritate the surface. Several scalp conditions can create bumps, including follicle inflammation and cysts, so the pattern and history matter when making a diagnosis.
