Does jock itch smell?

Jock itch is a fungal infection of the groin folds. It often presents with itching and a scaly, expanding rash on the inner thighs or crease, while the central skin may look less inflamed. Smell can develop when sweat and moisture remain against inflamed skin, or when bacteria grow in the same area. A strong, foul, or suddenly different smell deserves more attention than a mild sweaty odour.

Seek prompt care for spreading redness, warmth, increasing pain, pus, fever, or significant swelling. Do not scratch until the skin breaks, as damaged skin can invite another infection.
