What should you know about jaw muscle botox?

A clinician injects botulinum toxin into the masseter or another selected jaw muscle after checking movement, tenderness, bite, and facial proportions. Reduced nerve signalling lowers muscle contraction. If the muscle is enlarged from repeated clenching or grinding, its outline may gradually look less pronounced. If the concern comes from bone, fat, or loose skin, relaxing muscle alone may not create the desired contour.

Use the aftercare instructions provided by the clinic. Mild injection-site soreness or chewing tiredness can happen. Keep follow-up plans so the clinician can assess facial balance and jaw function rather than judging the result immediately.

Get urgent help if you develop difficulty breathing, swallowing, speaking, or weakness beyond the treated area. Contact your injector for increasing redness, warmth, drainage, severe pain, pronounced drooping, or a bite that feels newly altered. Persistent jaw pain or locking should be assessed by a clinician or dentist.

Ask which muscle is enlarged, whether clenching is contributing, how the injection plan protects chewing function, what alternatives exist, and when a review is needed if the result is uneven or uncomfortable.
