Ixekizumab and ankylosing spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory condition that can affect the spine and joints near the pelvis. It may cause persistent back discomfort, joint stiffness, morning joint stiffness, and reduced range of motion. Tell the team about fever, a persistent cough, new skin changes, bowel symptoms, pregnancy plans, or medicines that affect immunity. Do not start, stop, or change injections without advice. A treatment plan may also include anti-inflammatory medication, physiotherapy, exercise therapy, or hydrotherapy to support movement and daily function.

Contact your care team promptly if an injection reaction is severe, an infection is worsening, or you develop repeated fever or unusual tiredness. Seek urgent help for trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, sudden weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or rapidly worsening spinal pain. These symptoms need assessment rather than an assumption that they are part of ankylosing spondylitis.
