Medicine for an Itchy Throat and Runny Nose

Allergic rhinitis commonly causes an itchy nose or throat, sneezing and clear, watery drainage. A common cold can also produce a runny nose and throat irritation, usually with congestion, cough or feeling unwell. Medicine that helps allergy symptoms may not address a cold, while combining several products can accidentally duplicate ingredients. Food allergy is a different concern when symptoms start soon after eating, especially with hives, swelling, vomiting or breathing changes.

Seek medical advice for severe pain, dehydration, persistent fever, ear symptoms, symptoms after a new medicine, or symptoms that keep returning despite sensible treatment.
