Is ovarian stimulation done with gonadotrophins?

Gonadotrophins act like the natural hormones that support follicle growth. They may be used to develop more than one follicle for fertility treatment, with the dose chosen according to the treatment plan and the expected ovarian response.

Treatment is monitored with ultrasound scans and sometimes hormone tests. The clinician uses these findings to adjust the dose, decide when follicles are ready, and reduce the chance of an excessive response. Other medicines may be added to control the timing of ovulation.
