Is laparoscopic excision of endometriosis done with a laparoscopic surgery system?

The surgeon makes small abdominal incisions and places a camera and instruments into the abdomen. Carbon dioxide is used to create working space. The camera displays the pelvic structures on a monitor, allowing the surgeon to identify and carefully remove visible endometriosis while protecting nearby tissue.

A laparoscopic surgery system may include the camera, light source, display, instrument controls, and specialised tools. The exact equipment does not determine whether every lesion can be removed. Disease location, depth, bowel or bladder involvement, and the surgeon’s experience influence the operative plan.

Ask which system and instruments will be used, whether the surgeon regularly treats deep or complex disease, and what might require a different approach. Discuss fertility goals, possible findings during surgery, pain treatment, recovery restrictions, and the plan if endometriosis involves organs near the uterus or ovaries.

Contact the surgical team promptly for fever, worsening rather than improving pain, heavy bleeding, persistent vomiting, difficulty passing urine, chest pain, breathing difficulty, or a red and draining wound. Sudden severe symptoms warrant urgent assessment, particularly after discharge.
