Is IVF done with AI embryo selection?

During IVF, embryos are created in a laboratory and assessed before a transfer is considered. An AI embryo-selection system may analyse embryo images or time-lapse observations to identify patterns that could help rank embryos for review. It does not create the embryos, test every genetic condition or decide which embryo is right on its own. The fertility team combines any software output with embryo development, genetic testing where relevant, medical history and your preferences. Availability and the evidence used by a clinic can differ, so the name of a tool does not describe the whole IVF plan.

Ask whether the clinic uses AI embryo selection routinely or only in selected cases, what information the tool analyses, who makes the final decision and whether choosing it changes the laboratory process or consent forms. Ask how embryos are evaluated if you do not use the tool, and whether genetic testing is a separate service. AI assessment itself is not usually a procedure you feel. Contact your fertility team urgently after an egg-collection or embryo-transfer procedure for heavy bleeding, severe or increasing abdominal pain, fainting, breathing difficulty, fever or rapidly worsening bloating. Ask for clear aftercare instructions before leaving, including whom to call outside clinic hours and which medicines to continue.

Ask what the software can and cannot predict, whether its output changes your options, how the clinic protects embryo data, what alternatives exist and how the recommendation fits your treatment history.
