In a frozen embryo transfer, the embryo is thawed and placed in the uterus during a planned cycle. Some people ovulate naturally and may need extra progesterone; others use medicines to build the lining and then receive progesterone on a schedule set by the clinic. Micronised progesterone may be prescribed through the vagina or by another route, depending on the treatment plan and local practice. The timing of progesterone is coordinated with embryo age and transfer timing.

Use the prescribed dose and route at the same time each day, and do not change or stop it without speaking with the fertility team. Vaginal use can cause residue or discharge, while other effects may include breast tenderness, bloating, sleepiness, or mood changes. Keep the clinic informed about all medicines and supplements. If a dose is missed, ask the clinic what to do rather than doubling the next dose.

Contact the fertility clinic promptly for heavy bleeding, severe pelvic pain, fever, an allergic reaction, or symptoms that feel markedly different from expected effects. Seek emergency help for trouble breathing, chest pain, fainting, or sudden one-sided leg swelling and pain. Do not stop progesterone because of light spotting unless the clinic instructs you to do so.
