Irregular periods after marriage treatment

“Marriage treatment” can refer to different medicines or procedures, so the exact treatment, dose, start date, and reason for treatment are important. Hormonal contraception or fertility treatment can alter bleeding and ovulation. A new sexual relationship can also make pregnancy a relevant possibility, regardless of whether cycles were previously regular.

The plan may involve monitoring, changing treatment, regulating bleeding, or treating an underlying cause.

Seek urgent care for heavy bleeding with dizziness or faintness, severe pelvic pain, fever, or a positive pregnancy test with pain or bleeding. Contact the treating clinician promptly for new severe side effects, bleeding after sex, or symptoms that began after a procedure.

Ask whether the treatment commonly changes ovulation or bleeding, whether pregnancy testing is needed, and when the next review should occur. Ask how contraception or plans for pregnancy affect the safest way to manage the irregularity.
