Short answer

An Invo compression garment is a close-fitting support used to help manage swelling, and it should be measured, fitted and monitored by a qualified clinician.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How compression helps

A garment applies graduated pressure to a limb or body area. This can support the movement of fluid through the lymphatic and venous systems and may make swelling feel more controlled. It does not remove the underlying cause, and the correct pressure depends on the body area, skin condition, circulation and treatment history.

A poor fit can create tight bands, rubbing or pressure points. A therapist may measure you when swelling is stable, select the garment style and explain how it should feel. The garment may be part of a wider lymphoedema plan that includes movement, skin care and other therapy.

Using it day to day

Put the garment on exactly as taught, smoothing wrinkles and checking that the top edge is not folded. Keep fingernails and jewellery from catching the fabric. Wash and dry it according to its care instructions, and inspect your skin after removal. Record changes in swelling, comfort, colour or sensation so the fitting can be reviewed.

When to seek care

Remove the garment and contact your clinician if you develop numbness, tingling, unusual coldness, colour change, worsening pain, blisters or marked skin irritation. Seek urgent help for sudden one-sided swelling with chest pain or breathlessness. Do not continue wearing a garment that becomes painful or leaves a deep, persistent mark.

Questions for your doctor

Which area should the garment cover, and how long should I wear it? How do I put it on without damaging my skin? When should it be replaced or refitted? What circulation, wound or infection concerns would make compression unsuitable?

Questions people ask

Should compression feel painful?

No. Firmness may be expected, but pain, numbness, coldness or colour change means the garment needs review.

Can I use someone else's garment?

No. A garment must match your measurements, swelling pattern and clinical needs.
