What should you know about inumac mri scanner?

You lie on a movable table that slides into a short tunnel surrounded by the scanner’s magnet. The machine makes loud tapping or thumping sounds while images are collected, and you need to stay still. The radiographer can communicate with you and may provide hearing protection and an alert button.

Some examinations use an injected contrast agent to make particular tissues easier to distinguish. The choice depends on the body area and clinical question. MRI does not use ionising radiation, but the magnetic field means metal objects and some implanted devices require careful checking.

Tell the imaging team about pacemakers or other implants, metal fragments, surgical clips, hearing devices, tattoos with metallic pigment, kidney problems, pregnancy, allergies and claustrophobia. Remove jewellery, cards, phones and other metal items as instructed. Ask whether you may eat, drink or take regular medicines before the scan.

During the scan, follow the breathing or positioning instructions and use the alert button if you feel unwell. If anxiety is a concern, discuss support before arriving; options depend on the facility and the examination. The report is interpreted by a radiologist and sent to the clinician who requested the scan.

Tell staff immediately if you feel burning, severe discomfort, breathing difficulty or sudden distress during the scan. After contrast, seek urgent help for swelling of the face or throat, trouble breathing, widespread hives or fainting. Contact the imaging or treating team about persistent vomiting, a worsening injection-site reaction or any symptom that concerns you after leaving.
