Brain imaging and other tests help rule out a mass, bleeding, blocked fluid flow, or a clot before certain procedures are considered.

Treatment may include changing a contributing medicine, managing fluid balance, or using prescribed medicine that reduces cerebrospinal-fluid production. If eyesight is threatened or pressure remains high, a specialist may discuss drainage procedures or surgery. Weight management can be part of care for some people, but it should be planned safely and alongside medical follow-up.

Take treatment exactly as prescribed and attend eye or neurology reviews, even if headache improves. Report worsening vision, new double vision, increasing vomiting, or unusual sleepiness promptly. Bring a complete list of prescriptions, over-the-counter products, and supplements. Ask before starting a new medicine, because some products can affect pressure or interact with treatment.

Go to emergency care for sudden severe headache, loss of vision, seizure, weakness, speech difficulty, confusion, fainting, or repeated vomiting. These signs may indicate rapidly worsening pressure or another emergency. Do not drive yourself if your vision, alertness, or movement is affected.

Ask which cause is being investigated, how your eyesight will be monitored, how quickly treatment should work, and what side effects require a call. Clarify whether you need neurology, ophthalmology, or neurosurgical follow-up and what to do if a dose is missed.
