Pause shaving and close trimming until the bump improves. Clean the skin gently, use a warm compress, and wear breathable underwear that reduces friction. Never squeeze, cut into, or pick at the area. When you resume grooming, trim rather than shave extremely close, use clean equipment, move with hair growth, and avoid multiple passes. Arrange an examination if the bump is deep, persistent, recurrent, or increasingly painful. Seek prompt help for spreading redness, warmth, marked swelling, pus, fever, chills, or feeling unwell.
