What should you know about ingrown hair wipes?

Many wipes contain exfoliating ingredients that lift dead skin cells around a follicle. This can make it easier for a curled hair to emerge and may reduce roughness. Burning, marked redness, swelling, or cracking means the product is irritating your skin rather than helping it. Wipes are not a substitute for diagnosing folliculitis, razor bumps, or another skin condition.

Read the label, patch-test on a small area, and use a light touch on clean, dry skin. Do not scrub, squeeze, pick, or dig for a hair. Avoid broken skin, mucous membranes, and skin that has just been waxed, epilated, or shaved. Stop if stinging continues.
