Industrial piercing hypertrophic scarring: what to know

An industrial piercing passes through two points of the upper ear, so irritation, pressure from the bar, movement, or delayed healing can affect both openings. A hypertrophic scar may look pink, red, brown, or darker than nearby skin. It can feel dense, itchy, tender, or tight, but it does not grow beyond the wound edges.
